理大 PolyU GPA、Weighted GPA、Award GPA、Honours 分類、AI 政策官方規例解讀（2026 更新）

GPA scale — 4.30 cap 同 2020/21 制度改變

理大用 4.30 grade scale（2020/21 起）：A+ 頂到 4.30，唔係 4.0。呢個係 2020/21 制度改革嘅結果——之前 cap at 4.0，A+ 同 A 都係 4.0，2020/21 起加入 A+ = 4.30、B+ = 3.30、C+ = 2.30、D+ = 1.30 呢啲「plus」grade，令 GPA 分辨力更精細。2020/21 前入學嘅同學 transcript 依然 cap at 4.0，兩套系統要清楚分清。

同 城大 GPA 規例 個 4.30 scale 好似，但兩間 A+ 頒發條件唔同：城大 A+ 明文只頒 outstanding performance；PolyU 官方 grade description 只寫 A+/A/A- = “Excellent”，冇 outstanding-only 限制。即係話 PolyU 同一 top-scoring assessment 較容易攞 A+，比城大寬鬆。呢個位對想衝 First class 嘅同學重要——A+ 有 4.30 額外 0.30 buffer 幫拉 Award GPA。

Under the new grading system, no more capping will be applied to GPAs starting from 2020/21. All GPAs will range from 0.00 to 4.30. A+ 4.3 Excellent; A 4.0; A- 3.7; B+ 3.3 Good; B 3.0; B- 2.7; C+ 2.3 Satisfactory; C 2.0; C- 1.7; D+ 1.3 Pass; D 1.0; F 0.0 Failure.

PolyU Graduate School — Graduation Requirements（New Grading System）

幾個重要細節：Retaking — 只計 final attempt grade（唔係 average）；Excluded subjects（唔入 GPA 計）：Exempted、Ungraded、Incomplete、credit transfer 冇 grade、W (withdrawn)；“S” grade（absent from all assessment）計入 GPA 且當 zero grade point。呢啲全部係 official General Academic Regulations 標準條文，適用全校。

四層 GPA — Semester／cumulative／Weighted／Award

PolyU 用四層 GPA 系統：Semester GPA（sGPA）、cumulative GPA、Weighted GPA（WGPA）、Award GPA——比其他大學（EdUHK 三個、CUHK 兩個）更複雜。分辨清楚呢四個係最重要嘅第一步，因為佢哋計法唔同、用途唔同、影響嘅時間點亦唔同。

The Grade Point Average is the cumulative average calculated for all subjects taken. The Semester Grade Point Average is the average calculated for all subjects taken for a particular semester. For some programmes, a weighted cumulative average (Weighted GPA) for those relevant subjects contributing to the award classification will be calculated. The Grade Point Average for Award is the final GPA value based on which the award classification of a student is determined.

PolyU Academic Registry — Explanation on Assessment Results

Award GPA 點計要睇 programme 類型：Single Major — Award GPA = Weighted GPA；Major/Minor — Award GPA = Major GPA（Weighted GPA 只 count Major subjects）；Programmes without level weighting — Award GPA = cumulative GPA。呢個結構其實幾細節，好多同學 Year 4 攞 transcript 先發現：呢排一直用嚟 track 自己 progress 嘅 cumulative GPA，同最終 Honours 決定用嘅 Award GPA 唔係同一個數字。

對 Major/Minor 同學嘅實際 impact：你嘅 Minor 成績唔影響 Award GPA——只 count Major subjects。搵唔到官方文件 有 Minor 成績 requirement threshold（例如「Minor GPA 至少 X 先可以 confer Minor award」呢類 rule），但實務上 Minor 要達到 GPA 1.70 先算 satisfy Minor requirement。呢個對想「用 Minor 拉高 Award」嘅同學係反直覺：Minor 唔會幫你拉 Award GPA。反而應該將時間精力 focus 落 Major subjects，特別係 Level 3&4 嗰啲。如果需要專業寫作輔導幫拉高 Major subject grade，可以參考 Coursework & Case Study 代做。

Semester GPA 個關鍵位好多同學忽略：Summer Term 唔會影響「progression status」——即係話 Summer Term retake 嘅成績雖然計 cumulative GPA，但唔會用嚟決定你落唔落 probation 或者 progression。實務意思：Fall + Spring 兩個 semester 已經定咗你 progression fate，Summer 只係 salvage cumulative GPA。想搶救 progression 就要 Fall／Spring 學期內做決斷。

Honours 4 級分類 — Award GPA range

PolyU Honours 分 4 級，用 Award GPA 決定（唔係 cumulative GPA）：

The following are the award GPA ranges for determining award classifications: 1st Class Honours 3.60 to 4.30; 2nd Class Honours (Division 1) 3.00 to 3.59; 2nd Class Honours (Division 2) 2.40 to 2.99; Third Class Honours 1.70 to 2.39.

比較全港其他大學嘅 Honours GPA threshold：PolyU 呢套 range 係香港 UGC 大學裡面最寬鬆嘅之一。1st Class 3.60 對比 中大 GPA 規例 3.50、教大 GPA 規例 3.40 都高——但 PolyU cap 亦係 4.30，即係實際 headroom（3.60 至 4.30 = 0.70 range）比其他大學（例如 CUHK 3.50 至 4.00 = 0.50 range）大。意思係 PolyU 攞 First class 難，但攞到之後有 buffer 到 cap 亦寬。呢個對用 GPA 申請海外 grad school 有實際意義：Harvard、Cambridge、Oxford 等 top school 用 GPA 4.0 scale conversion，PolyU 4.30 要 normalize 落 4.0 scale 時你要主動同 admissions office 講清楚 conversion 邏輯。

Pass-without-Honours 呢個 award 值得單獨提：如果 cumulative GPA ≥ 2.00 但 Weighted GPA < 2.00，Board of Examiners 可以 recommend Pass-without-Honours。意思係你「畢咗業」但唔畀 Honours class——transcript 顯示係「Bachelor of X (Pass)」，冇 First/Second/Third 修飾。呢個情況出現得少但 possible，特別對 Level 3&4 course 大量 F 但 Level 1&2 好嘅同學。

A Pass-without-Honours degree award will be recommended only under exceptional circumstances, when the student has demonstrated a level of final attainment which is below the ‘essential minimum’ required for graduation with Honours from the programme in question, but when he/she has nonetheless covered the prescribed work of the programme in an adequate fashion, while failing to show sufficient evidence of the intellectual calibre expected of Honours degree graduates. For example, if a student in an Honours degree programme has a GPA of 2.0 or more, but his/her Weighted GPA is less than 2.0, he/she may be considered for a Pass-without-Honours classification.

PolyU Applied Mathematics Programme Regulations — Section 7.2

Board of Examiners（BoE）另外還有 discretion 加 programme-specific criteria，例如某啲 Faculty 要求 Capstone Project／FYP 一定要 pass 或 minimum grade 先可以取 First class。搵唔到官方文件 有全校統一 BoE Honours override criteria，但個別 Programme Handbook 常有加註。想確認就查你 Programme Requirement Document (PRD)，Section 6.10-6.13 附近。如果你 Capstone／FYP／Thesis 需要專業支援達到 threshold，可以參考 FYP／Capstone 代做 或 Thesis 代寫 服務。

Weighted GPA 同 Level weighting 機制

Weighted GPA（WGPA）係 PolyU 決定 Honours 嘅核心指標。Level weighting 機制：Level 1&2 subject weight = 2，Level 3&4 subject weight = 3——即係 Year 3&4 嘅 course 對 Award GPA 貢獻係 Year 1&2 嘅 1.5 倍。呢個 mechanism 全校統一適用於所有 Bachelor’s degree programme。

For calculating the weighted GPA (and award GPA) to determine the Honours classification of students who satisfy the graduation requirements of Bachelor’s degree awards, a University-wide standard weighting will be applied to all subjects of the same level, with a weighting of 2 for Level 1 and 2 subjects, a weighting of 3 for Level 3 and 4 subjects. Same as for GPA, weighted GPA ranges from 0.00 to 4.30 from 2020/21.

PolyU ISE PRD — Weighted GPA and Level Weighting

對讀者最實用嘅解讀：假設你 Year 1&2 平均 3.00（Level 1&2），Year 3&4 平均 3.60（Level 3&4）——用 unweighted 計 cumulative GPA = (3.00 + 3.60) ÷ 2 = 3.30。用 Weighted GPA 計：WGPA = (3.00 × 2 + 3.60 × 3) ÷ (2 + 3) = (6.00 + 10.80) ÷ 5 = 3.36。Weighted GPA 3.36 vs unweighted 3.30，差 0.06——Year 3&4 好分嘅 boost 效應清楚。反過來，如果 Year 3&4 差過 Year 1&2，Weighted GPA 會拖低過 unweighted。

實用策略：Year 1&2 用嚟建立 foundation 同 GPA safety net，Year 3&4 攻擊 First class。理由：Level 1&2 course 通常較 introductory，較容易維持 GPA 3.0+；Level 3&4 course 加深難度但同時 weight = 3，係 Weighted GPA 主要 driver。如果 Year 1&2 因為 adjustment issue 攞 3.0 附近，Year 3&4 攞穩 3.7+ 都仲有機會衝到 First class（Weighted GPA ≥ 3.60）。呢個 leverage 效應 CityU、EdUHK、HKUST 都冇——係 PolyU 對「後期發力」同學特別友善嘅設計。

反面 case：Year 3&4 course F 一科殺傷力大過 Year 1&2 F 一科。假設 Year 1 F 一科 3-credit Level 1 subject：impact 係 3 credits × 2 weight × (0 – 3.0) = −18 weighted grade points。Year 4 F 一科 3-credit Level 4 subject：impact 係 3 × 3 × (0 – 3.0) = −27 weighted grade points——後者殺傷力多 50%。Year 3&4 揀 course 一定要考慮風險：assessment structure （coursework vs exam ratio）、historical grade distribution、supervisor／teacher expectation。有 red flag 就用 add-drop period 換 course。

對 Major/Minor 同學：Award GPA = Major GPA（唔係 Weighted GPA）——但 Major GPA 本身內部依然有 Level weighting。即係話你 Major 嘅 Level 3&4 subjects 依然 weight = 3，Level 1&2 weight = 2；Minor subjects 完全唔 count 落 Award GPA。呢個 setup 令 Major/Minor 同學嘅 Award GPA 計算比 single Major 更複雜——多咗一層「Minor 是否 disqualifying」判斷，唔會影響 Award GPA 但影響是否 confer Minor。

Level weighting 嘅意思係高年級科目喺 Award GPA 入面份量重啲，即係同一分數，Year 3、4 攞嘅價值高過 Year 1。所以資源應該擺喺高 level 嗰幾科嘅大 assignment 度，例如搵 UniWriterPro 嘅專業代寫功課團隊，Case Study 代做處理其中最花時間嗰一兩份。

Academic Probation（GPA < 1.7）

Probation 觸發：2020/21 起，GPA < 1.70 就落 probation（2020/21 前係 GPA < 2.00）。呢個係跟 GPA cap 由 4.0 升到 4.30 一齊嘅制度改革——因為 4.30 scale 令低分區域更精細，probation threshold 相應下移。probation 顯示喺 examination result notification 同 assessment result notification，但唔會出現喺 transcript of studies——即係話你之後申請 job 或 grad school 交 transcript 唔會有 probation record。

To give prior warning to students who need to make improvement for fulfilling the GPA requirement of the University, students having GPA lower than the value stated in the regulations (revised from 2.0 to 1.7 starting from 2020/21 academic year) will be put on “academic probation” in the following semester. This status will be reflected in the examination result notification but not in transcript of studies.

PolyU Academic Registry — Explanation on Assessment Results（Academic Probation）

Probation 解除：Probation semester 尾 pull GPA up to 1.70 or above 就自動解除。留意呢度用 cumulative GPA 唔係 Semester GPA——即係 probation 嘅 semester 你 Semester GPA 一定要好過 cumulative average 先能拉返 cumulative GPA 上 1.70。如果 cumulative GPA 距離 1.70 差好遠，probation semester 攞好高 Semester GPA 都未必即時解除。

對比其他大學嘅 threshold 差異：科大 CGA 規例 probation trigger 係 CGA < 1.7；教大 GPA 規例 係 SGPA < 2.00（用 Semester 而唔係 cumulative）；城大 GPA 規例 係 CGPA < 1.7 加 warning／probation／suspension 三級。PolyU 嘅 trigger 用 cumulative GPA + 1.70 threshold，係中間偏寬鬆——但 trigger 一次就 probation，冇 warning 過渡。

Probation 學期實際策略：Study load 通常會被限制——PolyU 有 AR150 form 專門處理 probation student study load 決定，同 Department Programme Leader 傾。過多 course 反而傷 semester GPA 恢復；focus 3-4 門 core subject 攞高分係最穩打法。如果需要 essay-based 或 coursework-based subject 專業輔導拉分，可以參考 Essay 代寫；一定要留意 GenAI declaration 條文（下面 AI policy section 詳解）。

Deregistration 三個 grounds

PolyU deregistration（強制取消學籍）有 三個 grounds——呢個係全校統一嘅硬條件，官方 General Academic Regulations 明文列出：

A student will have ‘progressing’ status unless he/she falls within the following categories, either of which may be regarded as grounds for deregistration from the programme: (i) the student has exceeded the maximum period of registration for that programme as specified in the definitive programme document; or (ii) the student’s GPA is lower than 2.0 for two consecutive semesters and his/her Semester GPA in the second semester is lower than 2.0; or (iii) the student’s GPA is lower than 2.0 for three consecutive semesters.

三個 grounds 逐個拆解：

注意：Deregistration 用嘅係 GPA < 2.0 threshold，唔係 probation 用嘅 1.7——即係話 probation trigger 同 deregistration trigger 唔同 threshold。呢個係 2020/21 制度改革遺留嘅細節：probation 更新到 1.7，但 deregistration 嘅 GPA threshold 官方 published Programme Regulations 仍然標 2.0（可能個別 Programme 有更新）。搵唔到官方文件 有明確 University-wide announcement 話 deregistration threshold 已同步更新到 1.7；若果你自己 Programme Handbook 標 1.7，以你 Programme Handbook 為準。

對讀者最重要嘅實務啟示：Deregistration 唔係一次 semester 差就會 hit——係「連續」惡化嘅結果。即係話你就算某一 semester crash（family emergency、疾病、mental health 等 legitimate reason），只要下一 semester 拉 Semester GPA up to 2.0 就完全 break the chain。呢個機制對 struggling student 提供緩衝時間，唔似其他大學（例如 EdUHK）連續兩學期唔 lift probation 即 discontinue 咁緊。

如果無法即時恢復 GPA，可以行以下 formal path：Leave of Absence——由 Programme Leader 或 Head of Department 書面批准，通常一 semester 或一 academic year，唔會計入 maximum period of registration。適用於健康、家庭原因、突發情況。要注意 Leave of Absence 唔會 reset GPA，只係暫停 progression clock。Deferred Assessment——individual course 遲交／缺考，要有 supporting document（醫生紙、event proof）；由 subject leader 批。呢兩個 formal channel 好多同學唔知，直到 deregistration warning 到手先急住問人。

Credit Transfer — 50% / 67% 上限

PolyU credit transfer 有 三條 rule：外校最多 50%、PolyU 內部最多 67%、combined（兩類都用）亦係 50%。「credits normally required for your academic award」係計算 base，即以你 programme 嘅 total credit requirement 為分母。

Normally, not more than 50% of the credit requirement for award may be transferable from approved institutions outside the University. For transfer of credits from programmes offered by PolyU, normally not more than 67% of the credit requirement for award can be transferred. In cases where both types of credits are being transferred (i.e. from programmes offered by PolyU and from approved institutions outside the University), not more than 50% of the credit requirement for award may be transferred.

PolyU Handbook of Academic Regulations — Credit Transfer

幾個關鍵細節：validity period — 一般 8 years from year of attainment（呢個係 postgraduate 標準，undergraduate 情況以個別 Department 為準）；Approved exchange — 交換得到嘅 credit transfer 可以超過 50%（唯一例外 rule）；Minor — 最多 9 credits 外校 or 12 credits PolyU 內部 transfer 用嚟滿足 Minor requirement。

Transferred credits 唔會出現喺 GPA 計算——只有 grade 冇 assigned 嘅 credit transfer 才被 GPA 計算排除，但 with grade assigned 嘅 credit transfer 都唔會影響 cumulative GPA 或 Weighted GPA。呢個 rule 對外校交換或 top-up 同學好重要：你 exchange 攞到 A+ 都唔會 boost 你 PolyU GPA，只會 boost 你 transcript 上顯示 credit fulfilled 咗。

對想 senior year admission 或 top-up 同學嘅 impact：Block transfer——通常 associate degree／higher diploma 入 PolyU top-up degree，會一次過 block transfer 一定 credit（例如 Faculty of Business BBA senior year entry 通常 60 credits block），呢啲 block credit 已計入 50% ceiling。即係話你 senior year entry 之後唔可以再申請大量 credit transfer——ceiling 已被 block transfer 用晒。

Level 4 course（Year 4 final year）通常唔可以透過 credit transfer 免修——因為 residential requirement 一般要求至少一定比例 credits 喺 PolyU 完成，其中 Level 4 subject 佔一部分。搵唔到官方文件 有 University-wide Level 4 credit transfer restriction 明文，但個別 Programme Handbook（例如 BAESP）明文規定 Senior Year students 只能 transfer 「non-compulsory, non-level-4 subjects」。想 confirm 就查你自己 Programme 嘅 residential requirement section。

GenAI 政策同 declaration 要求

PolyU GenAI 政策採取 open and forward-looking 立場——校方主動 embrace GenAI 作為 educational tool，但同時強調三個核心原則：students accountable for their own work、properly acknowledged when used、subject teacher discretion to restrict。

PolyU takes an open and forward-looking stance on the use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools (such as ChatGPT) as a positive and creative force in education, and the incorporation of such use in innovative learning, teaching, and assessment practices. While embracing the use of new technology in education, PolyU upholds the principle that students must adhere to high standards of academic integrity in all forms of assessments. The Student Code of Conduct and the policy on academic integrity apply to the use of GenAI in student work. In accordance with the above stance, the University emphasises that: students are accountable for their own work; and the use of GenAI (if permitted) in student work should be properly acknowledged.

三個實務要點：

要點一：Subject teacher 有 discretion 決定 GenAI 是否 allowed——每個 subject／assessment task 都可以有不同 GenAI policy。「The use of GenAI tools may or may not be allowed in a subject, depending on the nature of the subject and the objective of the assessment tasks. You should refer to your subject and assessment documents to check if you may use GenAI tools in your assessments.」——即係話你要逐個 subject 睇 assessment brief，唔可以假設一個 subject 用得就其他都用得。

要點二：Declaration 內容——若使用 GenAI，declaration 需要明確 specify 三件事：GenAI model used（例如 ChatGPT-4、Claude、Gemini）、how it was applied（brainstorming、drafting、editing、translation）、integration 方式（direct paste、paraphrase、reference）。AI-generated content 一定要 properly cite 免 plagiarism。校方有官方 declaration template（AR + EDC 網站可 download），2025 年 2 月 update 咗涵蓋 AI translation tools。

要點三：Cheating vs 合理使用嘅明線——「Asking GenAI to do the assignment for you is like asking someone else to do the assignment for you, and copying AI-generated content is like copying other people’s work. Both are cheating and are penalisable.」——即係話 AI 做整份 assignment 或者複製 AI-generated content 都當 cheating。合理用法：brainstorming、check factual accuracy、supplementary source 對照。呢條線比較 教大 GPA 規例 嘅四元素 declaration 更 broad——PolyU 冇 mandatory format，但係 subject teacher discretion 空間大，即係話 declaration 要因 subject 調節。

PolyU maintains its open and forward-looking stance on the use of GenAI in education. This update highlights the principle that the work students submit for assessment must be their own work and that any AI-generated material (including text, images, and translations) used in the work must be properly referenced. Subject teachers have the discretion to restrict the use of AI tools and/or AI-generated material. If the use of GenAI should be restricted, subject teachers will clearly communicate the restrictions to their students in the assignment briefs.

PolyU AR — Guidelines for Students on GenAI (2025 Updates)

搵唔到官方文件 有全校統一 Turnitin similarity index cutoff（例如「超過 X% 自動 flag」），亦冇公開 AI-detection tool（例如 Turnitin AI Score、GPTZero）嘅使用 threshold；呢啲位一律以 subject teacher 個別 提供嘅 assessment guidelines 為準。Best practice：任何時候用咗 GenAI，即使 assessment brief 冇明文要求 declare，都主動用 official template 加一段 declaration——冇多餘 penalty，反而避免將來 accused as un-declared use。

對想 outsource 學術寫作嘅同學：Proofreading 服務唔會觸犯 GenAI policy——因為 human editor 改文法錯字唔屬於 AI-generated content。呢個係最保守嘅使用方式，適合 non-native English speaker 交 essay／FYP／thesis final draft 之前做語言 polish。可以參考 Proofreading & 修改 服務。

Dean’s List 條件

PolyU Dean’s List 冇 University-wide 統一 criteria——每個 Faculty 自訂條件。以下係 Faculty of Business 條件（Faculty 中比較典型），其他 Faculty 條件可能略有差異：

Students who are ranked top 10% by yearly weighted GPA of the total student population across all undergraduate programmes in the Faculty and have obtained a yearly weighted GPA of at least 3.50 in an academic year of study, including Summer Term, if any, will be on the List regardless of their programme and year; The minimum number of credits taken, i.e. excluding any credits transferred other than those from approved student exchange programmes, for the academic year concerned is required to be 27 credits. Students who have been involved in disciplinary action during the academic year concerned will not be eligible for the Dean’s List.

PolyU Faculty of Business — Dean’s List Criteria

三個位睇：一，Dean’s List 用 yearly Weighted GPA（唔係 cumulative）——即係話某一年 yearly Weighted GPA 達 3.50 且 top 10% 就 qualify，唔需要之前每年都達；二，Minimum credit taken 27 credits——即部分 exchange semester 或 leave of absence 嘅 year 可能因 credit 不足唔 qualify；三，Top 10% by yearly Weighted GPA——即使你 GPA 3.60，如果 Faculty top 10% cutoff 係 3.80，你都 miss out。

Applied Physics 呢類理科 Faculty 條件更嚴：Top 5%（唔係 10%）、yearly GPA ≥ 3.7（唔係 Weighted，係 raw GPA），無 failed subject in the year，無 disciplinary action，未超過 normal duration of programme。呢個係 Faculty 自主權嘅 example——Faculty of Science / Applied Physics 條件較 Faculty of Business 更嚴。

對比其他大學：科大 CGA 規例 Dean’s List 用 TGA 3.7 全校統一；教大 GPA 規例 Dean’s List 用 YGPA 3.5 + Faculty top 10%（同 PolyU Business 類似但 threshold 低 0.15）；PolyU 各 Faculty 條件唔統一係比較特殊嘅 setup——申請時要對照你自己 Faculty 嘅 official criteria。

搵唔到官方文件 有 University-wide President’s Honour List（PolyU 冇類似 EdUHK 或 HKUST 嘅 University-level 頂級 honour list）。PolyU 頒發嘅 University-level 個人 honour 主要係 graduation ceremony 上頒發嘅 individual medal，例如 President’s Award、Outstanding Student Award，呢啲 selection criteria 由 University Committee 決定，唔係純 GPA-based。

• Turnitin 全校統一 similarity index cutoff（例如「超過 X% 自動 flag」）——冇公開全校數字。
• AI-detection tool（例如 Turnitin AI Score、GPTZero）嘅使用 threshold——冇校方統一 cutoff。
• 各 Faculty／Department grading distribution／curve——冇公開 official document。
• 遲交扣分表——由 subject leader 訂，冇校方統一表。
• Programme Requirement Document 之外嘅 subject-level GenAI declaration template——由 subject leader 決定 exact format。
• Deregistration threshold 是否已由 2.0 更新到 1.7（同 probation 一齊改動）——published Programme Regulations 仍標 2.0，未見全校統一 announcement 更新。
• Board of Examiners 決定 Honours class 時 discretion 使用邊 programme-specific criteria（例如 FYP／Capstone 分數 gate）——分散喺各 PRD，冇 University-wide 條文。
• Level 4 credit transfer restriction 是否 University-wide policy vs Programme-specific——published policy 只喺 individual PRD（例如 BAESP）見到明文。
• Dean’s List Faculty-level criteria 之外，有冇 University-wide 統一 threshold——未有公開統一 document。
